Here are some examples of the four types of tutors we offer and their hourly rates — Undergraduate Tutors, Graduate Tutors, Experienced Teachers and Professional Tutors, and Super Tutors.
Super Tutors
Cambridge attracts the world’s best academics: a select team of highly accomplished Super Tutors with many years’ outstanding teaching experience. Many of our Super Tutors have been Head of Department in at least one school. From £95 per hour.
Example of a Super Tutor
Sally is a passionate and experienced teacher of History and Politics, with a proven track record of outstanding lessons and excellent exam results.
I am an Oxford educated Historian, an experienced teacher and experienced tutor. I therefore have a wide range of highly relevant subject and skills-based experience, ideal for tutoring pupils in preparation for their GCSE and A level examinations, as well as preparing students for Oxbridge applications and interviews. Further to this, I am an AQA A level history examiner with experience in marking both examination and coursework components, making me particularly well suited to tutoring students who are following this A level history course.
As a teacher, I have a proven track record of excellent exam results at both GCSE and A level over the last 7 years. As a tutor I have supported students in meeting and exceeding their target grades and securing university places at Russell Group and Oxbridge universities. I place particular focus on developing the written skills of my students, allowing them to write analytically and using a clear structure in response to essay and source-based questions. I have a breadth of historical knowledge so can confidently support pupils in consolidating their subject knowledge, and my years of teaching experience have afforded me a good understanding of effective exam preparation and revision strategies.
You will find me friendly and personable with high expectations, and a deep commitment to helping my students reach their full potential.
Some recent reviews:
-
Sally is a truly exceptional tutor. She is not only technically superb in terms of her subject knowledge but she has also three most valuable personal assets that set her decisively apart from other teachers. Firstly, she is a great communicator and has a rare ability to impart her knowledge in an accessible, simple (although never simplistic) and methodological way. Secondly, she has a natural gift for detecting weaknesses promptly and providing targeted support in the areas that are lacking knowledge or confidence. Thirdly, she is highly experienced in working with pupils under pressure – Sally possesses both an instinctive empathy for students stressed about their workload, and an innate ability to tailor her approach to her pupil’s personality infusing a sense of calm, control, empowerment and self-assurance.
-
Sally applies high standards not just to her students but importantly to her own work. She is highly organised and plans ahead, foreseeing potential difficulties before they arise making sure that these never materialise. She is very responsive and hard working. Her comments to pupils are clear, concise and carefully thought through; her reports to parents thorough and exhaustive. In all aspects of her work Sally’s attention to detail is immaculate.

-
As a real bonus (although one is truly not needed in her case!), Sally is very familiar with public exam board expectations having worked as an exam board moderator. She is highly conversant not only with the technical exam requirements but also has the experience of knowing how these are implemented in practice, adapting her approach to achieving personal academic heights when it comes to grades. Her work, however, is not simply paper results driven. Exceptionally, she also leaves her students an invaluable legacy of knowledge of how to analyse and tackle problems as well as developing in her pupils an inquisitive yet critical mind – a rare goal in today’s grade driven environment. Sally is a real gem of a teacher and I cannot speak highly enough of her tutoring.
Experienced Teachers and Professional Tutors
Professional tutors with years of teaching experience, in-depth subject and syllabus knowledge. Experts in building confidence to achieve. From £70 per hour.
Example of an Experienced Tutor
Ticiana is a History and Politics graduate of Lincoln College, Oxford, and an experienced tutor.
I absolutely love my degree. What I most love is when the two sides of my degree cross over and I can use my knowledge from both sides for political history modules. At University, I captained the 2nd women’s Lacrosse team, which has been the best experience of my time at Oxford. I was also very involved in student journalism, including being an editor of the freshers’ magazine and am taking part in an international development consultancy project.
Cambridge and Oxford Graduate Tutors
Tutors with degrees from the universities of Cambridge and Oxford — sometimes Masters or PhD/DPhil candidates — with proven track-records of academic success. From £60 per hour.
Example of a Graduate Tutor
Beth is a First-Class HSPS graduate of the University of Cambridge (Catharine’s College). She has provided private tuition for HSPS and A Level in Government and Politics for a number of years, leading pupils to successful outcomes both for their A Levels and university offers. Beth has lectured to hundreds of international undergraduate students, as well as working closely with individual students on their university applications and preparation. At St Catharine’s, Beth was an HSPS ambassador, which involved representing the subject and college to prospective students, giving her a deep understanding of the course and its structure. Beth was also the First Year Rep for her JCR, which means she has a great detail of knowledge on the structure of Cambridge life and what students can expect from their studies.
