Here are some examples of the four types of tutors we offer and their hourly rates — Undergraduate Tutors, Graduate Tutors, Experienced Teachers and Professional Tutors, and Super Tutors.
Super Tutors
Cambridge attracts the world’s best academics: a select team of highly accomplished Super Tutors with many years’ outstanding teaching experience. Many of our Super Tutors have been Head of Department in at least one school. From £95 per hour.
Example of a Super Tutor
Emma is an experienced teacher and Head of Department with a first-class degree in Theology from Worcester College, Oxford.
I also have a PGCE and Master’s degree in Education from University College London, and am always keen to stay up-to-date with educational research and pedagogical developments. I strongly believe that humour and variety are key to a memorable learning experience, and enjoy thinking of inventive new ways to teach. I very much enjoy teaching students of all abilities, and always adapt to stretch and support as needed.
I have several years of teaching experience, and for the last five as Head of Religious Studies and Philosophy at leading independent schools. I have taught a range of different specifications, including AQA and Edexcel GCSE; IGCSE; OCR and Edexcel A-Level, and the Cambridge Pre-U. I also work as an examiner for AQA and OCR, and exam results under my leadership have been consistently excellent. My additional responsibilities as Head of Department include setting and marking entrance and scholarship papers, along with Common Entrance. I am also experienced in supporting students with applications to competitive universities, including Oxbridge, for example by supplying reading lists and mock interviews / tutorials. Additionally I have experience in private tutoring for both Religious Studies and English.
In my spare time, I very much enjoy baking and reading, and am currently working my way through 19th century classics in world literature.
Experienced Teachers and Professional Tutors
Professional tutors with years of teaching experience, in-depth subject and syllabus knowledge. Experts in building confidence to achieve. From £70 per hour.
Example of an Experienced Tutor
Chris is an enthusiastic, experienced tutor with degrees from both Oxford and Cambridge.
I studied an undergraduate degree in Theology at Cambridge University, and am about to begin working towards a DPhil in Theology at Oxford. I am keen to help students across a range of levels and subjects, including with Oxbridge admissions. I love tutoring, as it enables me to have a direct impact on helping children and young adults to fulfil their potential and develop as people.
I have over five years of tutoring experience, which is varied both in terms of the levels and the subjects offered. I am able to adapt my tutoring strategy in order to provide the most effective help to each individual student, as no two tutees requires the same help. I am passionate about providing tutoring assistance.
Cambridge and Oxford Graduate Tutors
Tutors with degrees from the universities of Cambridge and Oxford — sometimes Masters or PhD/DPhil candidates — with proven track-records of academic success. From £60 per hour.
An example of a Graduate Tutor
Beth is a First-Class HSPS graduate of the University of Cambridge (St Catharine’s College). She has provided private tuition for HSPS and A level in Government and Politics for a number of years, leading pupils to successful outcomes both for their A levels and university offers. Beth has lectured to hundreds of international undergraduate students, as well as working closely with individual students on their university applications and preparation. At St Catharine’s, Beth was an HSPS ambassador, which involved representing the subject and college to prospective students, giving her a deep understanding of the course and its structure. Beth was also the First Year representative for her JCR, which means she has a great detail of knowledge on the structure of Cambridge life and what students can expect from their studies.
